Getting gadgets and electronics this time of the year has become a habit for all the Christians celebrating the Christmas and all the other winter traditions. Still, is it really worthy to invest in gadgets during this time of the year?
If you ask me, I will say no, mainly for a very simple reason: even if there are a lot of sales nowadays, and the price of the electronics is usually down for a few days, I usually keep my money and wait for the first releases of the New Year. For instance, in 2012, Apple is expected to release 2 new tablets in no more than 30 days at the iWorld conference, and rumors are that the prices for the already existent tablets (iPad 1 and iPad 2) will go down a bit, so they would target from that moment on the low and middle end sectors, while the new generations of tablet would target the middle and high-end sector.

Following the same reasoning, I expect the following things to happen: most of the low cost gadgets will get even cheaper (for example, if a Dell Inspiron M5030 is currently priced at around $350-400), or they will be replaced by the new generation of low cost gadgets and electronics.
Either way, instead of buying expensive tech presents for Christmas, it’s a way more wiser decision to keep your money and wait for the new releases than spending all your money on items that will soon be surpassed.

Apple has announced their new “Cards” application at the their “Lets Talk iPhone” Media Event yesterday!

This iOS app allows users to create a card [somewhat like Hallmark], send it to Apple to print it, emboss it, and mail it to you.  Apple has stated that mailing would cost $2.99 in the US.  Users can choose from 21 different designs, and this app is integrated into iOs 5′s new Push Notification feature.  ”Cards” will be available on the app store on October 12th.

Apple has announced their new service “Find My Friends”! This app would allow users to search for their friends that has allowed to share their location with you.

According to Apple’s latest keynote, this app would allow users to invite friends and share for a limited time only.  For example, you want to know how to get to a baseball game your friend is at, all you got to do is simply ask your friend to share his location with you (via the app), and on your iDevice, there would be directions that would guide you on how to get there.  Find My Friends will be available on October 12th.

Find My Friends is a new app available as a free download from the App Store that lets you easily share your location with people who are important to you. Friends and family appear on a map so you can quickly see where they are. Find My Friends also lets you temporarily share your location with a group of friends, whether it’s for a couple of hours for a dinner or a couple of days on a camping trip; when the time is up, the sharing ends. With Find My Friends, you get a notification every time you get a new friend request and if you give them permission, they can see your location. With a simple tap you can hide your location. Parental controls help you manage how your child uses Find My Friends.

Friends for a day.

With Find My Friends, you can choose to temporarily share your location with a group of people. It’s perfect for a weekend camping trip or a day at the amusement park. Share locations for a couple of hours — or a couple of weeks. When the trip is over, the sharing ends, too.

Seek (and hide).

With Find My Friends, you make the rules. A notification appears when you get a new friend request. If you give your friends permission, they can see you. Want a little privacy? Go off the grid with the flip of a switch.

Keep them safe.

Parental restrictions help you manage how your children use Find My Friends. Controls are quick and easy to set up and require a password to override your settings. That way your kids can have fun — and you can make sure they stay safe. – Apple
